Although you are able to use the signal meter accessible off the "Point Dish" screen, this would usually involve bringing both your receiver and TV outside along with a power extension cord while aiming which could be inconvenient to do every time you move to a different location or need to realign the dish after it gets bumped.
Having an analog satellite meter would allow you to aim your Bell dish without having to bring your receiver and TV outdoors.

I've used a TV near an open window or a pair of wireless home phones on intercom to listen to the receiver tuning signal. Another person can help to peak the signal. A good signal meter will be more convenient for multiple dish setups.
A level (for the mounting pole) and decent compass are a worthwhile investment as well.

Well I think it's a good investment. Of course, try it first without it, before you actually realize you will need it, and then you'll know for sure. How far away are you going for camping?
