SES 3 replaces AMC 1 at 103W
(1/1)
DrSat:
As of Sunday June 7 at approximately 4am EST, AMC 1 was finally replaced by SES 3 at 103W. This is a significant milestone for FTA enthusiasts as many people had issues receiving AMC 1 when using a motorized dish due to its non-standard skew. As SES 3 now uses a normal skew setting, it is now possible to used a peaked skew setting on a motorized dish to receive all satellite in the arc, including SES 3 at 103W.
Over here, I noticed a significant improvement on a 39 inch motorized dish with 82% signal quality on all 3 NBC muxes where before, I had approximately 75% on 11760 and 68% on 11840 and 11880 on the AzBox miniMe American Edition. This is with the skew still set at 15 degrees off which allowed the reception of 103W and other satellites in the arc at at slightly reduced signal level. Will soon repeak the LNBF skew and will make a note of the impact this makes on signal levels.
Everyone who was receiving this satellite before, please post the improvement you have yielded on your system due to the satellite change.

Perfect first test as shortly after posting this message, a heavy rain downpour came in. Normally, this would have resulted in the NBC muxes dropping out but they kept going without any issues at about 70% quality level.
Jorgek:
COZI TV is now a solid Q72 with normal skew on the 33" motorised dish. Had to minor tweak the dish to peak the signals.
