Hunting for farthest East low altitude Ku birds ->15W to 3W!
(1/1)
SuperJ2:
Hi guys,
Apparently 3W is receivable on ABS-3A (Americas beam) [Satbeams 8209]
11132,H,30000,3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
11168,H,30000,3/4 DVB-S2 QPSK
Need clear LOS down at 4.7deg from my location to catch -- will test soon...
So far I can receive:
15W Telstar 12V (Pan American beam) [Satbeams 8364]
10975,V,6726,1/2 DVB-S (carrier only)
10983,H,45000,4/5 DVB-S2 QPSK2 (only radio ITC)
11733,H,45000,4/5 DVB-S2 QPSK2
11795,H,45000,4/5 DVB-S2 QPSK2 (5 TV ITC)
11857,H,45000,4/5 DVB-S2 QPSK2
11919,H,45000,4/5 DVB-S2 QPSK2
Anyone else able to catch anything lower than 15W on the Ku bands?

DrSat:
The lowest eastern satellite I was able to receieve from here in Oakville, ON was 12.5W which had some active transponders on the north american beam a few years ago. However, I don't believe there's anything full time as of now. You can always try scanning to see if you are lucky enough to catch a feed or two.
The issue when aiming the dish down to try and receive low elevation satellites is that the dish will also pickup an increased amount of terrestrial interference as well so even if 3W has an Americas beam, you will need to be at a location where there are no nearby interference sources in front of the dish to ensure reliable receiption with only 4.7 degrees elevation.

Now back in business with my 1.2-metre Ku dish installed with a view from 30W to 8W and maybe farther east. Can somebody give me a confirmed transponder in that window? I couldn't find any in my search yesterday.
