Title: BVN Frequency change
Post by: pctest on February 03, 2017, 08:07 am
BVN will be changing its frequency on Eutelsat 113w on February 10. At present it is still on the old plus the new, which is 12076 H 5787.

Here's the aftermath: it looks like the new smaller bandwidth signal shows higher power than the old wider one.  I hope this will have a good effect on reliability!

BVN will be changing their transponder parameters effective February 8th, 2018.  The new parameters are as follows:

Satellte: Eutelsat 113 West @ 113 degrees West
Transponder: 12089 MHz
Polarity: Horizontal
Symbol rate: 13500 (13.500 Msps)
FEC: 3/4
Modulation: DVB-S QPSK

Apparently there were some issues with the new 12089 frequency so for now, the old 12076 frequency will keep working until at least April 1st.

Yet another transponder change for BVN after only 2 months, hopefully they keep using this one for a while.
Of particular interest is their move from DVB-S to DVB-S2 which means old receivers can't be used anymore but the picture quality is a lot better.

Satellte: Eutelsat 113 West @ 113 degrees West
Transponder: 11984 MHz
Polarity: Horizontal
Symbol rate: 3600 (3.600 Msps)
FEC: 1/2
Modulation: DVB-S2 8PSK

However, people who still want to keep using their old receiver or have troubles receiving the above new transponder will be pleased to know that a second BVN signal is now available on a DVB-S transponder on Galaxy 19, 97w.  This should make it easier for people higher up north far away from the U.S. border to receive BVN but the picture quality will be slightly lower than the DVB-S2 signal on Eutelsat 113 West.

Galaxy 19 tuning parameters are as follows:

Satellte: Galaxy 19 @ 113 degrees West
Transponder: 11842 MHz
Polarity: Horizontal
Symbol rate: 22000 (22.000 Msps)
FEC: 3/4
Modulation: DVB-S QPSK

No problem receiving the DVB-S2 signal using existing dishes as the FEC is pretty low at 1/2 however some dishes had to be repeaked for optimal signal.
